International Menstrual Hygiene Day 2024
In commemoration of Menstrual Hygiene Day 2024, Positive Circles joined Ahadi Pads for a walk on Saturday, May 25th at Uhuru Estate, Nairobi.
In Kenya, about 65% of girls are unable to afford sanitary pads, and together with the stigma around menstruation, they are forced to stay home during their periods and some drop out altogether.
Our mission was to break the stigma around menstruation and raise awareness of the importance of good menstrual hygiene. The walk also aimed to raise funds to buy sanitary pads for the young girls within the community.
We were joined by the area MCA, Hon. Robert Mbatia, who officiated the walk and delivered an inspiring speech supporting our cause.
There was a football exhibition by the girls, to champion empowerment and a menstrual hygiene talk by Ahadi Pads.
The girls received dignity kits from African Renaissance and reusable sanitary pads from Ahadi Pads, ensuring they do not miss school due to a lack of sanitary pads.
Positive Circles was honored to be part of this noble cause as a partner, ensuring girls stay in school and maintain good menstrual health, which is one of our key pillars.
